Description
Phnom Penh, 15 June 2026 —Cambodia Passive Cooling Community of Practice (CoP) in collaboration with Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC), National Council on Building Technical Regulations (NCBTR) hosted a orientation workshop of the competition at the ITC. This initiative received implementation support from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), China of Academic of Building Research (CABR).
Workshop Objective
This workshop officially launched the “Cool Home | Low Cost Competition”, sharing the comprehensive design brief, design criteria, and evaluation guidelines with our participant teams.
Participants including student teams are coming together alongside expert mentors.”
Key highlights
the workshop included an essential overview of design criteria and evaluation, guidelines for Passive Cooling Strategies to minimize building energy demands, followed by an introduction to building energy simulation for evaluating real-world building performance.
As a result, our participating student teams learned how to apply practical passive design methods, building simulation tools, and align their upcoming competition deliverables.
