Phnom Penh, 22 January 2026 — The Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), together with the PCS Community of Practice (CoP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment (MoE) and with implementation support from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), hosted a workshop on “Applying the New Passive Cooling Guidelines to Building Design” at the ITC Campus.

This workshop addresses a practical guidance on applying passive cooling strategies in building design, share local experiences, and include a discussion on the CoP roadmap and future collaboration.
Participants from the government and private sector, including architects, engineers, developers, and policymakers—are coming together to figure out how to actually build what our national climate goals require.”

Key highlights of the workshop is to apply passive cooling strategies, including the development of design brief identification of potential passive cooling strategies and evaluation of selected strategies using the techno-commercial tool.
As the result, participants learned how passive cooling strategies align with Cambodia’s national climate and development goals. Attendees will gain practical knowledge of the new Passive Cooling Guidelines and insights from local case studies, Additionally, the workshop strengthens the Community of Practice and discussed on future activities of CoP.
By applying these insights, attendees are contributing to Cambodia’s passive cooling guideline to their building design and climate-resilient buildings.
